Privacy policy

The short version. southamptoncruisecalendar.com is a static schedule site. There are no accounts, no logins and no newsletter. The only thing you can send us is a message through the contact form, and we use it to reply. One analytics tool measures traffic in aggregate, and two short-lived cookies help us tell readers from automated traffic on our links out. That is the whole picture.

What we collect

Nothing, unless you write to us. Browsing the schedule asks nothing of you: no account, no sign-up, no payment details.

The contact form

The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message. We use them to answer you and to check whatever you reported. We do not add your address to a mailing list, because we don't have one, and we do not pass it to anyone else.

The form is handled by FormSubmit, which receives the submission and forwards it to our inbox. Your message reaches their servers on the way to us, so their privacy terms apply to that step. Messages then sit in our email account like any other mail. Ask us and we will delete yours.

Analytics

We use Clicky to understand which pages get read. It records the usual web analytics data: the pages you view, the page that referred you, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser, screen size and language.

Clicky runs here without tracking cookies. It is not used for advertising, we do not build profiles, and the data is not sold or shared with anyone.

We set two first-party cookies of our own, cbk and cbi. When a page loads, a short script asks this site's server for cbk. It lasts 30 minutes and holds an expiry time, a random number that limits how many clicks one visit can send, and a signature tied to your network and browser. cbi holds only the number 1. We add it the first time you scroll, tap or press a key, and it also lasts 30 minutes.

We use them because automated traffic was following our links out without ever reading a page. When you follow one of those links, cbk decides whether the click goes through our affiliate link or straight to the retailer. Only this site's server reads these cookies, and they do not follow you to other sites.

That server keeps a log of each of those clicks for 30 days: the time, the link, the page you came from, your browser string, the first three parts of your IP address and whether the cookies were valid. It holds no name and no account.

If you would rather Clicky did not count you, use an ad or tracker blocker, or Clicky's opt-out page. The opt-out works per browser and needs third-party cookies switched on. To refuse our own cookies, block cookies for this site. The schedule, the fares and every page work either way, and so do the links out. Without cbk they still open, as plain links that earn us nothing. A link to a special offer may open the retailer's main page instead.

• FormSubmit. Delivers the contact form to our inbox, and only when you send one.

That is the complete list. There is no advertising network, no tag manager, no social media embed, no comment system, no chat widget, no font CDN and no A/B testing tool. Fonts and images are served from this domain.

Links to cruise lines

Links marked Ad take you to a travel retailer and pay us a commission if you book. See the affiliate disclosure. Once you follow one, you are on their site and their privacy policy applies, not ours. We pass no personal information to them.

We log those clicks, as described under Analytics above, so we can tell which listings are useful and keep automated traffic out of our reports.

Server logs

The web server keeps standard access logs holding an IP address, timestamp, URL requested and browser string, which are used for security and debugging and rotate automatically. They are not combined with analytics data.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, EU, or a US state with a privacy statute, you have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. In practice we hold no record that identifies you, so there is generally nothing to retrieve or erase. The opt-outs above stop the analytics collection entirely.

Children

This site is intended for adults planning travel and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If we ever add a third party that collects more than the above, it will be listed here before it goes live.
